AASHE- Climate Planning for Campuses
The Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education (AASHE) was founded in 2006 with a mission to promote sustainability in all sectors of higher education. This particular AASHE resource provides information on Climate Planning for Campuses.

American Society of Landscape Architects ASLA.   Points you to a number of good links in this updated (2011) site on Sustainable Urban Development.

Building Green Suite (CCNY sign-in required)
BuildingGreen Suite gives you the best information on green design in a membership-based website format. This online resource features comprehensive, practical information on a wide range of topics related to sustainable building--from energy efficiency and recycled-content materials to land-use planning and indoor air quality. BuildigGreen Suite integrates online versions of GreenSpec product listings, high-quality articles about green buildings, peer-to-peer comments, and more than 350 building case studies of sustainable buildings.

Center for the Built Environment
CBE provides information on new building technologies. It has links to research and reports.

CUNY Institute for Sustainable Cities.

The Institute works to realize cities as part of the solution to global sustainability challenges. By merging the science of sustainability with innovative public programming, the institute examines opportunities available to cities—and their residents—for proactive responses to on-going environmental change. Find reports from PlaNYC, NOAH, and other organizations.

Design Trust for Public Space.    Find Projects and publications such as Sustainable New York City (2006).

Green Home NYC
A community-oriented, volunteer-run organization, GreenHomeNYC promotes environmentally sustainable urban buildings.

This site is sponsored by McGraw Hill. It's an "on-line directory of information on sustainable design, practice and products. It includes information for the architect, engineer, contractor and consumer. GreenSource magazine is available free digitally at this site. Click on the "Look Inside" button on the desired issue's cover. The CCNY Architecture Library also subscribes in print.

High Performance Buildings Magazine
The magazine gives information about the benefits of innovative technologies and energy-efficient design and operation. You'll find case studies of buildings, developed through the support of leading practitioners in the sustainability movement.

New York City Department of Design and Construction Office of Sustainable Design
The department created the Office of Sustainable Design in 1997 for the purposes of identifying and implementing cost-effective ways to promote greater environmental responsibility in building design. Find in-depth manuals to inform the design process at this site.

Princeton Review's Guide to Green Colleges
This is a guide to 286 U.S. colleges and universities that have demonstrated an exemplary commitment to sustainability. The guide was released in April 2010 and includes three CUNY colleges including CCNY. The entire report is available free to download.

Sustainable Sites Initiative
This Initiative is an interdisciplinary effort by the American Society of Landscape Architects, the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center and the United States Botanic Garden to create voluntary national guidelines and performance benchmarks for sustainable land design, construction and maintenance practices. A number of case studies are available including the Queens Botanical Garden Visitor Center.

Sustainable Streets 2013 and Beyond - NYC DOT  A 200+ page document emphasizing street safety, mobility, infrastructure and resiliency in NYC.

The Center for Neighborhood Technology
The CNT is an organization that's been a leader in promoting urban sustainability. Among it's many publications is "The Value of Green Infrastructure: A Guide to Recognizing Its Economic, Environmental and Social Benefits" released in 2011. You'll find this 80-page PDF at this site.

U.S. Green Building Council
USGBC is a non-profit organization committed to expanding sustainable building practices. It developed LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design), a voluntary, consensus-based national rating system for developing high-performance, sustainable buildings. Learn about it on this site.

The Sustainable Cities Institute    Case studies, reports and more. Focus on US cities.  See their resources on Climate Adaptation and Resilience.

The Sierra Club's Sustainable Cities program.  A study published in 2005 involving Austin, Chicago, Fort Collins, and Portland (Oregon).

Sustainable Cities.  A Danish database tracking sustainable city planning and best practices internationally starting in 2008.
