Controversies in U.S. History: Group Project Sources

This LibGuide supports Prof. Adrienne Petty's hybrid summer course "Controversies in U.S. History," which will cover the U.S. Civil War, 9/11 memorials, historical feature films, and the Occupy and Black Lives Matter movements.

What are your sources?

The  links on the right include freely available websites and fee-based databases available to you as a CCNY student. The articles, photographs and reports you'll find inside emanate from a variety of sources. Compare the results you get in each of these and consider:

  • What voices predominate?
  • How is my topic covered? Is the information balanced?
  • How well is my topic covered?
  • How do these sources complement each other?
  • What news sources, including other people, do you regularly use to complement your knowledge? How does this compare with the other students in your group?

How to Use Storify

If you are using a lot of social media in your exhibits, consider using Storify as a curate tool. The tutorial below shows you how.
