Public Health: Interlibrary Loan (ILL) & CLICS

ILL vs. CLICS

CLICS is a CUNY-wide service that delivers books from one CUNY campus to another. 

If the item you're interested in does not exist within any CUNY library, you can use Interlibrary Loan (ILL) to request the item. 


RULE OF THUMB: 

CUNY has the book → use CLICS

CUNY does NOT have the item (book or article) → use ILL (a.k.a. ILLiad)

 

Interlibrary Loan (ILL)

Requesting an item (book or article):

  1. Go to WorldCat and search for the item. 
  2. If you see the following in the description of the item: , the item is available either at City College or another CUNY school, in which case, you would request the item using CLICS. 
  3. Click on  to assure CUNY does not have the item. If CUNY does not have the item, you can request it through ILL. 
  4. Click on First Time Users if you need to create an ILLiad account (see below).

Things to Note:

  • Textbooks and Reference books cannot be requested through ILL.
  • Books will be picked up at CCNY's Cohen Library
  • Articles will be delivered electronically to your ILLiad account. 
  • ILL books not picked up within the given time frame will incur a $10 fine

CLICS

Requesting a book: 

  1. Search for the item on OneSearch
  2. Click Sign in (see below). 
  3. Enter your Barcode (found on the back of your SPH I.D., beginning with the numbers 27674...); in this instance, the Barcode is both your username and password. 
  4. After you sign in, click on the title of the item and then click on Hold (see below).
